Free Bluesky schedulers, compared
Bluesky has no built-in scheduling, so anything that posts for you is a third-party tool. Several do it on a free plan — including, in fairness, some of Bloom’s competitors. Here is who actually does what.

The honest reading of that table
Free Bluesky scheduling is not rare. Buffer, Publer and Metricool all include Bluesky on their free plans, and so does Bloom. Anyone telling you they are the only free way to schedule Bluesky has not checked.
What is true is narrower, and still useful: the tools without a free plan at all are Later, SocialBee, Hootsuite and Vista Social, plus Postiz unless you are willing to run it on your own server. And Later, despite being aimed squarely at creators, does not list Bluesky among the networks it publishes to.
So the real question is not “who is free” but “which free plan runs out first for the way I post”.
Where each free plan stops
- Buffer: three connected channels, and ten scheduled posts waiting per channel. Fine for a light week, tight if you plan a month ahead.
- Publer: three accounts, and X is excluded from the free tier entirely. Ten posts pending per account.
- Metricool: one brand and 20 posts a month, with LinkedIn and X excluded from free.
- Bloom: no cap on scheduled posts or connected accounts; the limits are media storage and automatic X posting, which needs a paid plan.
- Postiz: unlimited if you self-host, which means running and updating a server yourself.
If you schedule in batches — a month planned in one sitting — per-channel post caps are what you will hit first, and that is the case for Buffer and Metricool’s free tiers.
How Bloom handles Bluesky
Bloom connects to Bluesky with an app password you generate in Bluesky’s settings and can revoke whenever you like, rather than your real password. Posts publish automatically at the time you chose, on every plan including free. The composer counts against Bluesky’s 300-character limit as you type and keeps links whole, and you can attach up to four images. Video isn’t supported.

Why Bluesky needs a tool at all
Bluesky ships no scheduling of its own: press Post and it goes out. Because it is built on an open protocol, though, third-party tools connect more easily than on most platforms — there is no partner programme or review queue standing between a tool and the ability to post. What is the best free Bluesky scheduler?
There is no single answer, because the free plans stop at different places. Buffer, Publer, Metricool and Bloom all schedule Bluesky free. Buffer and Metricool cap how many posts can wait in the queue, Publer caps accounts, and Bloom caps media storage instead. Pick by which ceiling you would hit first.
Can you schedule Bluesky posts without a third-party tool?
Not in the Bluesky app — it has no scheduling. You can write your own script against the open API if you are comfortable running one, but there is no built-in queue.
Is it safe to connect a scheduler to Bluesky?
Use an app password rather than your main one. Bluesky app passwords cannot delete your account or create further passwords, and you can revoke any of them at any time.
Does Later schedule Bluesky posts?
Bluesky is not listed among the networks Later publishes to on its own pricing page, as of 15 September 2026.
