What is cross-posting?
Cross-posting is publishing the same content on more than one social media platform. People do it to save time and to keep every profile active, without writing everything from scratch for each network.
The catch is that every platform has different rules. Bluesky stops at 300 characters. Instagram won’t publish a post without an image. X counts links in its own way. A caption that works in one place gets cut off or rejected in another, which is why copying and pasting so often goes wrong.

Cross-posting without looking copy-pasted
Cross-posting isn’t what hurts reach. Posts that obviously ignore the platform do. A few small changes keep one idea feeling at home everywhere:
- Rewrite the first line. It’s all most people see before they scroll. Short and direct on Bluesky and X, more descriptive on Facebook.
- Use hashtags where people search them. They matter most on Instagram. Save your sets in Bloom and add them only to the versions that need them.
- Match the format. A carousel on Instagram can be a single strong photo on X.
- Don’t flood communities. Posting the same image to many subreddits in one day looks like spam. Bloom warns you after three.
