How to post to multiple social media platforms at once
Posting the same update to five apps, one at a time, eats a surprising amount of your day. Here are the three ways to do it faster, what trips people up, and how to make one post work everywhere.

The three ways to post everywhere
1. Post by hand in each app
Free and fully in your control, and fine if you post once a week to two platforms. It gets slow fast: every post means opening each app, re-uploading the same photos and re-pasting a caption that may not fit.
2. Use the sharing built into the platforms
Some platforms owned by the same company can share to each other. For example, Instagram and Facebook accounts linked in Meta’s Accounts Center can share posts across both. It only works within one company’s apps, so it won’t reach Bluesky, X or TikTok.
3. Use a cross-posting tool

Know each platform’s rules before you start
Most cross-posting problems come from treating every platform the same. The differences that cause the most trouble:
- Length. Bluesky posts stop at 300 characters and X has its own limit, while Instagram captions run to 2,200 characters and Facebook takes long posts happily.
- Images. Instagram won’t publish a post without at least one image. Bluesky and X take up to 4 images per post; Instagram and Facebook take up to 10.
- Video. TikTok is video-first. Many scheduling tools, Bloom included, can’t yet publish video automatically everywhere, so check before planning a video-only week.
- Links. Links in Instagram captions aren’t clickable, so point people to the link in your bio. On X, posts with links can cost scheduling tools more, which is why some plans limit them.
- Accounts. Tools that publish to Instagram need a professional (Business or Creator) account, and Facebook publishing works for Pages, not personal profiles.

Make one post feel native on every platform
People can tell when a post was written for somewhere else. Small edits fix most of that:
- Rewrite the opening line per platform. It’s the only part many people read before deciding to stop scrolling.
- Put hashtags where they’re used. Instagram users search them. On Facebook and Bluesky, a couple are plenty.
- Choose the best image for each feed. A carousel suits Instagram; the single strongest photo often works better on X and Bluesky.
- Adjust the call to action. “Link in bio” on Instagram, the link itself on Facebook and Bluesky.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Copying hashtags everywhere. A block of 20 hashtags looks out of place outside Instagram.
- Flooding communities. Sending the same image to many subreddits or groups in a day reads as spam. Bloom warns you after three subreddits.
